When I got arrested for possession of a controlled substance, I thought my life was over. How could I explain to my kids that their father was going to have to go to prison? It was our worst nightmare when our son called in the middle of the night telling us he had been arrested. Since we live halfway across the country, it would have been practically impossible for us to handle getting him bailed out, getting him into treatment, hiring him a lawyer and making sure he attended his court appearances. After I got out of treatment, I had no idea how I was going to stay sober.
