Matthew A. Torrington, MD
Soberguard Medical Consultant

Matthew A. Torrington, M.D., is a board certified Family Medicine physician with a specialty in Addiction Medicine. Having completed a two year fellowship at UCLA's Integrated Substance Abuse Programs, he is also a Clinical Research physician. Dr. Torrington is boarded by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and certified by both the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management. In addition to his clinical research activities, he is licensed to practice in the states of California and Idaho and is involved in residential and outpatient treatment of substance abuse disorders. Dr. Torrington has a clinical focus on the treatment of stimulant dependence, alcohol dependence, opiate dependence, and pain.

Matt Knapp
Soberguard Recovery Specialist

The tasks surrounding a Soberguard assignment is coordinated by Matt Knapp's expertise and unique guidance. Matt Knapp has worked for Soberguard as a house manager/sober companion since November 2009. His personal and professional experience spans across Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles. Matt has developed his craft in the recovery field while working as a detox specialist, house manager at a premier Malibu sober living and as a driver for two Malibu treatment centers.

Majoring in philosophy and religious studies at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Matt brings a unique spiritual perspective towards recovery. With extensive firsthand experience in pharmaceutical detox, his ability to relate to other addicts, both while going through detox and in early recovery, empowers other addicts to overcome any and all obstacles towards their own well being.

Candice Tarasi
Soberguard Senior Advisor

As Senior Advisor, Candice exercises authority, direction and structuring of the company's operations and strategies.  She has the innate ability to help focus all efforts in supplying the client with the best services and confidential care.  As such, Mrs. Tarasi presides over all meetings and coordinates the priorities of the Soberguard team.
